Fostering Information Session – Online
To follow up the Fostering Information session last week held in Wigan, we will be holding an upcoming information session online. This will be held on Zoom and is to provide an opportunity for people to join the focused discussions to cover and ask any questions about fostering.
Many people find it very useful to meet other people that may also be exploring or looking into becoming a foster carer. You can have shared experiences or questions that can be really helpful to talk through together.
During the information sessions, we will cover the following areas:
- Background and motivations to be a foster carer
- The process to become a foster carer – including your assessment and an overview of the checks and references
- Timescales and expectations
- Training and support you will receive
- Financial information on fostering – including carer payment levels, tax, fostering respite payments and Beacon Sporting Chance.
- Recent developments in the fostering sector

Thank you to Ince Community Centre in Leigh, for hosting the information session last week. This was to promote foster care during Foster Care Fortnight in the local areas including fostering in Wigan and fostering in Leigh.
