Holiday location ideas for foster families
All children deserve to have a childhood filled with the best experiences – especially if they have had a difficult start in life.
Those providing foster care in Preston or other areas of the North West are allowed to take their foster children on vacations. This can be an excellent opportunity to learn about new places and cultures, while partaking in new experiences.
While you will have to inform your social worker of planned excursions, Beacon Fostering encourages its carers to take their foster children on holidays. Here are some ideas for locations to take children in foster care.
Stately homes
Home to nobility past and present, visiting stately homes is a great way to learn about the houses that have contributed to British history in one way or another. While some are privately owned, others are run by charities such as English Heritage and the National Trust. They have gardens, and often host events at Christmas and Halloween. Some even hold reenactments and recreations of life for people who lived there.
The seaside
A trusted and popular destination for families for decades, this is a great place to relax, craft sandcastles and explore nearby piers, shops and arcades. If you live in or near Blackpool, this is an excellent destination, home to the Sea Life aquarium, the Tower Ballroom and Nickelodeon Land.
Caravanning
If you have access to a caravan or campervan, this will provide a unique experience for your foster child or children, as you have a home away from home with the comforts of a conventional house. You could even take this opportunity to have a picnic or do ‘glamping’, where you can imitate the camping experience with the option of staying in the campervan/caravan.
