Ideas for celebrating Easter with your foster children
Spring is coming, and with it comes Easter. Traditionally a Christian holiday to remember Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, it has since evolved to bring in various traditions across denominations, and secular elements such as rabbits and lambs. Here are some ideas for celebrating Easter with your foster children and giving them a memorable family experience.
Planning activities
Before you get started, it’s good to consider the foster child’s cultural background and asking if they are comfortable with celebrating Easter and participating in Easter-related. If they are, ask them what they would like to do and make. Getting them involved in planning Easter activities will help them to express their preferences and feel like a part of the holiday and family.
Easter Egg Hunts
Hide eggs in your garden and around the house, and get your child or children to find and collect them, giving whoever finds the most eggs a prize at the end.
Easter crafts and cooking
You can paint or draw Easter-themed pictures, decorate baskets (or weave some if you seek a challenge), paint eggs and decorate hats. You can get resources for baskets and hats from a variety of craft and discount stores. Additionally, you can make cakes, biscuits and hot cross buns with your foster child or children, to share with family and friends.
Visit Attractions
Many stately homes and other attractions around the country hold Easter events for families, from the aforementioned egg hunts, to farms showing their animals, from hens to lambs. Google search for any events happening near you.
