Join us at Wigan Job Fair – Start your fostering journey

Have you considered becoming a foster carer? If you would like to find out more about fostering, please join us at the upcoming Wigan Job Fair.

We are currently looking to promote fostering and recruit foster carers locally in Wigan and surrounding areas including Leigh, St Helens, Bolton, Chorley, Warrington and Ormskirk.

The job fair is being held on 24 June at 11am, at Brickfield Community Centre.

At the event, you can cover any questions about fostering, what is involved, how to apply, discuss training and the overall support you will receive. Being a foster carer is not an actual job and it is not taxed as employment income.

It is a rewarding career however, because you can make a difference to a child’s future, whilst also receiving a regular foster carer payment. The income is self employment for tax purposes and there are positive tax allowances, which makes the majority of income tax free. You can find more information here on tax and finances:

At the event, you can have a friendly discussion with one of our team to find out more. We can then follow up with you and share a Guide to Fostering.

Beacon Fostering has a strong family ethos and we also provide therapeutic support to all our foster carers. It would be great if you can join us on the day, if you have a spare room and have the time and commitment to be a foster carer.
